Hi, I’m Calvin, age 37 (year 2023). I’m a lucky husband and father of two wonderful kiddos. By day, I work as an aerospace engineer at an MNC. By night, I’m usually nerding out over personal finance and investing stuff, blogging my thoughts, commenting on other’s posts, or watching Netflix & YouTube.
Why I Blog
I started this blog to record my thoughts as I build and maintain my stock portfolio, and to pen down my investing strategy. By writing down my thoughts, I hope to crystallise and fine-tune my thought process so that I can better convince myself to stick to my plans when the going gets rough. As I share my thoughts and what I’ve learnt along the way, hopefully my sharing will be useful to you in your own investing journey.
My Story
I’ve been investing since 2011, but the journey has been far from smooth. I’ve made so many mistakes and lost so much money. So I hope that through my sharing, you can avoid similar costly mistakes.
What started off as wishful thinking that I’d strike gold and make it big within a few years in the stock market (and failing miserably) has turned into a deliberate and consistent investment plan for our family’s retirement needs.
With a plan in place and less excitable demeanour, I’ve actually grown to appreciate the stock market and the opportunity it presents to anyone, even small retail investors to build our wealth and a comfortable retirement nest egg.
I definitely not a successful investor yet by any measure and I’m still learning so much every day. Managing finances and investing is a long journey, and I hope to share it with you every step of the way.
